Program Note
I composed Tra between December and February of this year. The word “Tra” in Italian means “in between” or “among”. This piece is conceived upon a set of intervals which undergo a continuous metamorphosis. This material is presented through different overlapping textures some occasionally dominant more than others. The music in this piece wishes to be or to become something else which is never fully realized. It lives and acts, as many individuals’ experiences, in between its potentials.

Tra was written for Alea III and is dedicated to Theodore Antoniou and Gunther Schuller, both of whom have been great inspirations and models in my two years at Boston University.
